The Paper Songbirds perform at the Ockham Village Fete
The Ockham Village Fete will always hold a special place in The Paper Songbirds hearts. It was a great start for us, marking our first official public performance back in 2016 and introducing us to a number of local contacts who's support and knowledge we couldn't have done without!
That's why, when offered to sing again for the Ockham Village Fete 2017, we just couldn't say no.
We kicked off the afternoon's entertainment and were lucky enough to be performing in the beautiful sunshine to a packed audience. It was an amazing opportunity to test some of our new arrangements; we performed songs from a variety of genres covering Jazz, Country & Acoustic Pop, but I think a personal favourite for us both was Rhianna's 'Please Don't Stop the Music'. It was so much fun.
What's more, we were totally overwhelmed by the number of compliments we received, and the amount of people who remembered us at the Ockham Village Fete last year. One local commented "I thought you were great last time, but you've just gotten better." Fab!!
Supporting us were a fellow acoustic duo, Dragonfly Sky, who did a great job on the day!
There were also a number of fun-filled activities throughout the afternoon, including a friendly dog show hosted by Ockham resident, Ingrid Tarrant (assisted by Christopher Biggins), an afternoon tea-tent and a live auction for amazing goodies! Overall, the Ockham Village Fete 2017 was a huge success and managed to raise money for local causes, including 'Wisley Action Group' and the 'Ockham Cricket Club', who host the fete each year. So, thank you for a cracking day Ockham Village. We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and really hope we get to come back next year.
